ISS leaders do not reside in ivory towers. They roll up their sleeves and actively participate in the day to day work, keeping an eye on the big picture.
Jean Ayoub, Secretary General of the International Social Service was born in Lebanon. After having served with the Lebanese red cross during the civil war in his country, first as a volunteer, he became director of operations.
From there, he went on to work with the IFRC as chief of mission, in Haiti then and (former) Yugoslavia then director of operations based in Geneva in charge of global disaster management, population movements, primary health care and child protection.
More recently he discovered ISS and soon realized that "not only humanitarians are champions of peace but social workers are too and very much so, and unlike humanitarians, they work mostly behind the scenes" said Mr Ayoub, adding "As Chief Executive of ISS network, I have the pleasure to accompany all of ISS activities, to work with and guide our teams."
Jean was one of the first to see the potential of ConnectAID. "After years of partnership with ConnectAID, I can tell you you can trust the system. ConnectAID is the purpose-driven communication tool NGOs need to feature their social and humanitarian impact on local communities.”
