Vertical farming offers cost-effective, reliable and sustainable food options for people in Africa.

“We didn’t just stop because of COVID. We moved on” said Josephine Favre, Founder of the African Association for Vertical Farming, one of ConnectAID’s partners.

« Due to COVID, our organization AAVF has been holding online training. We knew people were going to be hungry. The way we our team created really fast online training was amazing. Our people did manage to eat during the pandemic, in all the countries we work in Africa.

We have so many positive feedback about what we bring to the population. A lot of communities need us.”

Through innovative food production practices, Josephine Favre and the AAVF team are determined to see that each day, fewer people in Africa go to bed hungry.

"I realised that this technology suited Africa and that was our turning point. One can have a vertical oil barrel cut into three or four layers and use it to plant various crops that can then feed the entire family and allow them to sell the surplus. Vertical farming is their future.”
