Giving Tuesday: Connecting to aid in times of crisis01/01/2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all, but nowhere near as much as in developing countries, where living conditions are poor and access to healthcare, food and jobs is limited. Many humanitarian aid organizations have been forced to decrease or stop their necessary actions on the ground due to lack of funding. At the same time, other people want to help, but they simply don’t know how.

ConnectAID – The International Solidarity Network, offers a new approach to international philanthropy, connecting people to international aid to increase nonprofits’ social, humanitarian and environmental impact around the world.

ConnectAID is the first combined charitable giving platform and social impact network dedicated to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the international community. ConnectAID allows individuals and corporates alike to directly support international nonprofits and monitor the impact of their donations. It allows nonprofits, corporates and individuals to get involved, contribute to sustainable development actions, and to be a part of the change during the health and economic crisis we are currently facing.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 in 10 people are expected to be pushed back into poverty and over 265 million people will be in need of humanitarian assistance (WFP). The on-going crisis will likely severely impact progress towards reaching the SDGs unless swift action is taken to provide international assistance to the most vulnerable populations.

The need for donor support today is bigger than ever. With the security measures and lockdown, many people have saved money by not being able to go shopping or to restaurants as often, or just by saving on transportation. While some may not be able to give this year because they have reduced or lost their source of income, others are in a position to be the change, and to contribute now that international solidarity is crucial.

“With the COVID-19 crisis, funding for charities has in turn become increasingly scarce. There are millions of NGOs in the world today, many of whom often face enormous competition and great skepticism from donors who are not sure where to donate, where their money goes or whether humanitarian actions are as effective as promised. ConnectAID is an essential tool that nonprofits can utilise to ensure their effectiveness on the ground as well as to keep donors up to date on the impact of their generosity.” said Gaëlle Mogli, ConnectAID’s CEO and Founder.

ConnectAID seeks to improve the situation in developing countries by supporting nonprofits and helping everyday people become global changemakers with a truly innovative approach: aside from the fact that 100% of donations go directly to vetted nonprofits, ConnectAID pairs you with the cause closest to your heart that you can contribute to and then track the impact of your generosity.
With the belief that together we can tackle sustainable development and the disastrous consequences of COVID-19, what better a day to become an actor of change than on GivingTuesday?
