The number of infections is increasing daily in South Africa. Unfortunately, many people here believe the corona virus is a 'white' disease that cannot affect them…

As soon as the virus appeared in China, we put up posters in our classrooms. From the beginning, all children in our program received personal instructions on how to protect themselves from the virus. We also trained the school teachers. Many parents then complained that their children washed their hands too often and that they did not have enough money to buy soap. After this, all of the children received bars of soap so that they can continue to practice the barrier gesture of handwashing. In addition, before the schools closed, the children also received necessary food supplements.

Since school has closed, after school activities are suspended. However, we continue to be in daily contact with the children via Skype or WhatsApp.

Our program will be more necessary than ever after the pandemic, to ensure support continues for the most vulnerable children in South Africa.
